Longtime Arcadia City Clerk Gene Glasco retires. Glasco has served 12 years as its elected City Clerk. In 2022, Arcadia voters approved an update to the City Charter that eliminated the position of the elected City Clerk. With Glasco's retirement, the City Manager will appoint a City Clerk. Most of the traditional City Clerk duties are currently performed by professional staff in the City Manager's Office, ensuring uninterrupted service to the public. Gene attended Highland Oaks Elementary school, First Avenue Junior High School, and is a graduate of Arcadia High School where he lettered in Football and played second chair trombone in the award-winning AHS Marching Band. Gene is Arcadia’s first elected City Clerk that is a graduate of Arcadia High School.
Gene served six years in the United States Navy. He spent fourteen months in Vietnam as a Radioman in support of US Navy riverboat activities in the Mekong Delta and is a service-connected disabled Veteran. Gene is an Honor Role graduate of Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. He attended San Jose State University where he majored in Public Relations with a minor in Asian American History. After thirty years in the foodservice industry, Gene retired from Glasco and Associates, Inc. He also has practiced real estate in Arcadia.
Gene Glasco, Arcadia's new city clerk, was sworn in April 17, 2012. He will hold the position for four years, following his election on April 10, 2012. He has lived in Arcadia Highlands since 1954.

Representative Judy Chu (District 28) makes special speaking appearance at Arcadia High School on February 3, 2023. She spoke about monumental issues and legislation on topics like gun control, abortion, and more, hosted by Arcadia Young Democrats. The event called "What's New with Representative Chu," was the first of its kind at Arcadia High School. Chu, the first Chinese- American woman ever elected to Congress, has had a 22-year career in politics.
