Arly and Bill Barton of Arcadia will provide the horse-drawn carriage that will transport Shirley Temple Black, Grand Marshall, in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. The carriage is one of 17 owned by the Bartons.
The design of Arcadia's float for the 1989 Tournament of Roses parade is drawing criticism from parents who object to the champagne glasses. They feel the float promotes partying with alcohol.
Arcadia's float for the 1974 parade is ready. The title of the entry is A Garden of Roses. Riding the float will be TV personality Wink Martindale and Arcadia Queen Kathy Andrews.
The Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association Royal Court includes Joy Blackburn, Sandi Thistlewaite, Kristy Mutschler, Cathy Reid, Theresa Van Dusen. They will ride on the Arcadia float in the Pasadena Rose Parade on January 1, 1977. The queen has not been chosen yet.
A lot of Arcadians now own a piece of the city's float that will appear in the Rose Parade on New Year's Day. Residents who contribute a dollar or more receive a decal stating "I own a piece of the float."
MarrLin Greathouse, 17, of Arcadia High School, was crowned Miss Arcadia. She and her royal court will represent the city on the Arcadia float in the Pasadena Rose Parade on New Year's Day, 1980.
The American Indian will be spotlighted on three floats in this year's Tournament of Roses Parade. Farmers Insurance Group's float will depict an Indian on horseback. Arcadia's float theme is "The First Americans" and the County of Los Angeles' float theme is "The Proud American."
