Feasibility study for the provision of outside fire responses services to Sierra Madre commissioned. Arcadia City Council, led by Mayor Sho Tay, approved the study to be conducted to weigh the pros and cons of providing fire suppression services to the City of Sierra Madre.
City of Sierra Madre police must find another way to deal with officer shortage after Arcadia balks at sharing officer. Sierra Madre officials had hoped Arcadia could help through a contract between the cities where one Arcadia officer would help patrol areas of Sierra Madre at night and backup would be available as needed. Results are in from yesterday's city council elections for the City of Arcadia and the City of Sierra Madre. In Arcadia, the semi-official results show the three seats will be filled by Bob Harbicht, Mark "Mickey" Segal, and Peter Amundson. Sierra Madre voted in Joe Mosca, Josh Moran and Nancy Walsh (uncertified totals).
A recent audit of fire department response times in 12 cities shows San Marino and Pasadena firefighters were the quickest in responding to emergency calls. The report covered April, May and June. San Marino's and Pasadena's average response times were 4:03 and 4:02, respectively. Arcadia's average, in comparison, was 4:21.
Sierra Madre mail carriers will be consolidated into the Arcadia branch, effective October 26. The aim is to cut costs. The post office in Sierra Madre is not shutting down, but mail carrier drivers will instead report to the Arcadia post office at 41 Wheeler Avenue.
Arcadia Fire Department responded to a $40,000 structure fire in the 200 block of E. Haven Avenue in Arcadia. No one was injured. It was a single-story single-family dwelling.
Firefighter receives third degree burns in Monrovia arson fire. Arcadia Fire Captain Thomas Devlin was injured in fire at a business at 335 West Chestnut Avenue in Monrovia on December 26, 2015. Suspect commits suicide.

Arcadia Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials spill at San Carlos Road, on January 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The spill was contained and was not released into storm drain system. The substance was identified as muriatic acid. Neutralization techniques were implemented to abate the hazard.
Sierra Madre and Arcadia engaged in water fight. Sierra Madre accused Arcadia of stealing water from a shared East Raymond Basin. Holly Whatley, Sierra Madre's assistant city attorney, said the California Supreme Court divided the east and west Raymond Basin in a 1944 judgment. Arcadia spent $2.8 million to build its Anoakia Well in 2001 and its Colorado Well in 2007. Hydrogeology expert Tim Thompson said although Arcadia's two wells reside on the eastern side, the wells actually draw ground water that originates from the West Raymond Basin. He said there is very little water traveling from the east and west basins because of a hydrogeological barrier, and a scientific look at the ground shows that Arcadia is taking adjudicated water from the West Raymond Basin. Angeles National Forest fire officials raise fire danger level to extreme, effective Friday, September 2. This change is in response to September's seasonal drying combined with the 5th year of a drought.
