Merrill Shindler reviews restaurants for Mother's Day meals. One in Arcadia that is recommended is Din Tai Fung at the mall (now named The Shops at Santa Anita, formerly Westfield Santa Anita) at 400 South Baldwin Avenue.
Arcadia's original Din Tai Fung location at 1108 South Baldwin Avenue is closing for two months for renovations, but a bigger, 9000 s.f. flagship store at Westfield Santa Anita mall opened yesterday. The other Din Tai Fung location at 1088 South Baldwin Avenue will be permanently closed.

Sriracha lovers feel the heat as shortage persists. Huy Fong Foods, Inc. reports no relief in sight because of drought in Mexico. The hot chili sauce with the rooster logo is experiencing a shortage of red jalapenos peppers. This week the Arcadia branch of 99 Ranch Mareket had the 17-ounce bottle on sale for $5.98, down from $7.99. Huy Fong Foods is located in Irwindale.
An appeal has been made for help in locating two men, Haang Fung Chin of Arcadia, and Cheuk Lun Cheung, both missing for a month. They worked as food servers in the San Gabriel Valley.

Locally oned Chick-Fil-A to open in Westfield Santa Anita today. Restaurant will employ upwards of 50 team members. The owner of this franchise location at Westfield Santa Anita mall, in the food court, is Zach Zimmerman. He was born in Mission Viejo and graduated with a business economics degree with a minor in education from University of California Irvine.
