Four administrators from Taiwan's Ming Tao High School visited the Arcadia High School on November 3 as part of their tour of American schools. They praised the school's independent students, lack of fences and extensive computer system.
25-year old Colleen Kay Hutchins, who represented Utah in the Miss America contest, was named Miss America Saturday night. She is one of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hutchins of Arcadia.
"Unique Alumni Group Welcomes Former Baldwin Era Residents" by Helen Schrader. Ernest Schultz and his twin sisters Freda Schultz and Hilda Schultz, who were residents of early Arcadia and former students of the little school at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita, reunite and talk about life and schools in the early 1900s, including Arcadia's first school in the old packing house on the Baldwin Ranch. They recalled that the eighth grade teacher Miss Jeanette Said taught in English and Spanish since many students only spoke Spanish. News clipping. The general plan will be reviewed by the Planning Commission. The "central area" will be the focus of study. This area runs from the 210 Foothill freeway on the north to Duarte Road on the south and from the east city boundary to Santa Anita Avenue. It also includes the commercial section west of Santa Anita Avenue and north of Huntington Drive.
Planning Commission members and Planning Director Bill Woolard were bitterly disappointed at the slim turn-out of residents at a recent and much publicized hearing to review zoning in the city's central area.
A small group of teachers, dissatisfied with an 8.5% salary increase, may go on strike. Both the Arcadia Teachers Association and the American Federation of Teachers local have disavowed the action.
Dr. Ed Ryan has been chosen President of the Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association for 1975. The parade theme is Heritage of America. Arcadia's entry title has not yet been chosen.
