The Arcadia chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for a site for a new building. One possibility is on county property, adjacent to the rose garden at Arcadia County Park.
Groundbreaking for new Arcadia Chapter American Red Cross building is planned for March, 1983, with construction beginning shortly thereafter. Approved building site is on grounds of Methodist Hospital.
Article outlines Meals On Wheels program. Volunteers deliver two meals a day to recipients for a fee of $3.25 daily. The program was launched in 1974 by the Arcadia Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Arcadia Chapter, American Red Cross, has received a $20,000 sponsorship check from Herb Jones, chief executive officer of Hinshaw's, to provide a board of directors room in the new facility.
The American Red Cross chapter in Arcadia has laid off 10 of 11 employees, citing a large budget deficit. Chapter officials say all services will continue, with help from staff from the Los Angeles and San Gabriel/Pomona Valley chapters. Most of the laid off staff were trainers who taught first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The Arcadia chapter of the Red Cross is seeking to become a regional subcenter for blood collection and processing for the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Authorities say that such a center on the grounds of the Methodist Hospital would be ideal.
The Arcadia branch of the Red Cross, originally chartered in 1948, was rechartered last October as one of 2250 national branch offices. The Red Cross is run by volunteers, with no funding from the government.
