Looking west across Baldwin Avenue to southwest corner of Baldwin Avenue and Naomi at Shopping Bag Market. It operated here from the early 1940's to 1970.
Shopping Bag Market (which is listed in 1939 City Directory at 1225 S. Baldwin) and the West Arcadia Service Station (apparently owned at this time by Blake Smith and Bruce Wetmore), located at 1221 S. Baldwin.
View east on Huntington Drive from a position west of Santa Anita Avenue. Shopping Bag Market is on northeast corner of this intersection (Currently, the site of a Denny's Restaurant, noted 6/19/2013). Pine's Cafe was still located near the SW corner of Huntington Drive and First Avenue. A sign reading "19 cent Burger" in the middle is prominent, as if "Real Pit Bar-B-Q" on the left.
City Council approved closing First Avenue between Alta and California Streets from 6 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays from April 18 through Oct. 31. for a Farmer's Market.
Swim Spot boutique, a swimwear retailer store, leasing a short-term "pop-up" space at Westfield Santa Anita shopping mall, is spotlighted here. If things go well, Swim Spot will likely sign a longer term lease.
