The Otto Winkler home, built in the early 1920's at the corner of Fairview and Baldwin, has been demolished. The history of the era and that of West Arcadia are also given.

Citizens Bank-new banking firm opens here April 15 at temporary structure at 140 East Huntington Drive, while a permanent home is being built on the property. Features drive-in tellers. The general plan will be reviewed by the Planning Commission. The "central area" will be the focus of study. This area runs from the 210 Foothill freeway on the north to Duarte Road on the south and from the east city boundary to Santa Anita Avenue. It also includes the commercial section west of Santa Anita Avenue and north of Huntington Drive.
The Arcadia City Council, acting as the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency, has agreed to have the Republic Development Company propose a commercial development at the east entrance to Arcadia, on Huntington Drive.
The Hugo Reid Drive closure will have its final determination April 14. At present it is a one-way street as a result of fatal accidents some years back.
Residents of a 23 acre triangle north of Jeffries and west of Mayflower still hope to become a part of Arcadia. Monrovia has protested the move, because they had thought it would include properties on only one side of Mayflower, only to discover that both sides were involved.
State Senator H. L. Richardson announced he will run for the 35th Congressional district seat. The present representative is Jim Lloyd, former mayor of West Covina.
The Arcadia City Council, in its role of redevelopment agency, has approved a disposition and development agreement with American Savings for the property at the northwest corner of First Avenue and Huntington Drive.
