A bomb scare at the J. C. Penney Co. store in Santa Anita Fashion Park mall led to the closing of about ten stores and the evacuation of more than 100 customers and employees.

Concerns about a proposed entertainment complex next to Santa Anita Park race track have been expressed by representatives of three stores in the Santa Anita Fashion Park.
Wayne and Marlene Stam own the Fun Shop at 707 S. First Avenue in Arcadia where they carry old baseball cards. Article discusses baseball card collecting.
Arcadia's Rose Parade float for 1995 features the Royal Court sitting in a gazebo overlooking a horse race at Santa Anita Park. The 2 lead horses will be ridden by live jockeys. This fits in with the 1995 theme, "Sports-Quest for Excellence."
The television cable channel HBO filmed a pilot called "Luck" at Santa Anita Park last spring, starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte. The writer and producer is David Milch, who also wrote for the "Deadwood" television series. Santa Anita Park officials hope the pilot is picked up as a series. Its exposure on HBO could mean more revenue for the race track.
Yoobi store opens at Westfield Santa Anita mall. Yoobi sells kids' stationery and fun office supplies. For every item purchased in-store, a Yoobi item will be donated to a local classroom.
Holiday gifts come early for jockey Joel Rosario, veteran has nine mounts on today's card as Santa Anita meet opens. Rosario plans to ride full-time at Santa Anita Park this winter.

Plans to add a Nordstrom Department Store to Santa Anita Fashion Park received a set-back when the Arcadia Planning Commission voted down a request to reduce the required number of parking spaces at regional shopping centers.
