Arcadia Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was able to successfully resolve a tense hostage situation on October 7 at a doctor's office at 125 E. Duarte Road.
Emmanuel Chan has been named Police Liaison Officer to Arcadia's Asian community. He is on-call all the time in order to help with language problems when members of the Asian community run into trouble with the police.
Santa Anita Park race track will be the site of a preview of equestrian events for the 1984 Olympics on Friday, July 27, 1984. The Community Olympic Preview Open House will be held just prior to the opening of the Equestrian Olympic Games at the race track. The public will witness the layout of the venue as well as demonstrations of Olympic equestrian events.

Description of the newly formed Crime Impact Team, which consists of representtatives of 8 cities: Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monrovia, Monterey Park, San Gabriel and Temple City Station of LA County Sheriff's Dept. The Team is an outgrowth of the West San Gabriel Valley Burglary Investigation Unit, which ran out of federal funds.
