A $3 million building project to increase stable capacity by 150 stalls is underway at Santa Anita Park. Completion, which is planned before the start of the Oak Tree meeting, will bring the total number of stalls to 2,100. The project is discussed in detail.
As part of a $2.6 million capital improvements program, Santa Anita Park race track has built a 2-story addition to the east end of the club-house. The 2nd story patio will be open during the Oak Tree meet, with a third story to be constructed next year.

As the first stage of what the owners hope will be a 2-part improvement of Arcadia's Santa Anita Fashion Park, the 12-year-old shopping center has announced it will soon begin a $10.5 million interior and exterior remodeling.
It appears residents will have an opportunity to vote in June on whether the city should help the school district with its financial problems. They are trying to reduce the budget by $1.2 million.

A new $340,000 computer system will be installed in the library. using Inlex software and Hewlet Packard hardware, the library will automate the card catalog and the circulation desk providing better control of the library's 150,000 books and 240 periodicals.
Oak Tree Racing Association's autumn season will begin October 17. The 25 day session offers 16 stakes races with record purses. Several new features including Pick Six wagering will be offered.
