The City Council on December 16 by a 3-2 vote decided not to apply for federal funds under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, even though the Council-appointed committee recommended that it apply.
The 50,000 square foot property on the northeast corner of Wheeler and First has been sold for $215,000. The former owners were Robert and Phyllis Walker. District-wide test scores show Arcadia remains high in test results, though some Board of Education members are concerned about a drop in spelling scores for the 6th and 12th grades.
