Arcadia resident Henry"Red" Austin, who helped start the private Highpoint Academy in Pasadena and worked as a dentist in Alhambra for more than 25 years, died Thursday at the age of 69.

A group of friends that grew up together in or near Arcadia, who joined a Camp Fire Girls troop together seven decades ago, reunited 6 years ago and now meet monthly. Ruth Dunlop was presented a Volunteer of the Year award at the Community Center's Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet. She has volunteered 949 hours at Arcadia's Senior Citizen Services this year.
