Arcadia High School students honor friend Boa ("Tony") Tsing with a makeshift memorial. He was recently killed in a traffic accident. He was only 18 years old.

Arcadia High School and University of Southern California graduate Bruce Matthews was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, August 4, 2007. He played for the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans.
A ceremony was held for the moving of a memorial plaque dedicated to Captain Jerry Broadwell. He is the only Arcadia firefighter to die in the line of duty. The plaque has been moved to Station 2.
Arcadia Public Library garden dedicated to the memory of Jesse Vanlandingham, known to many as Van. He was instrumental in founding the Arcadia Public Library Foundation and served as its president since its inception in 1995, until his death in 2000. The Vandlandingham Memorial Garden was designed by landscape architect Bob Ericksson.
The Breeders' Cup will be raced at Santa Anita Park on November 6-7, 2009. It will be its second consecutive year and fifth time overall held at Santa Anita Park.

County officials are offering a $20,000 reward for information in the slaying of Jason Wei, an Arcadia restaurant owner. He was held up and shot at his Osaka Ya Restaurant on November 25, 2007.

In Loving Memory of Jean Irwin Lewis, Aug. 21, 1914 - Nov. 7, 2006. Jean was born in El Monte, California. She was the school nurse at Rosemead High School for 26 years. After retirement in 1976, Jean enjoyed traveling and her second home in Mexico. She has been active with the Arcadia Senior Friendship Club and the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Jean always had a zest for living and enjoyed new experiences. Her husband, Jim Lewis, and daughter, Sally Lash, survive her. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Covina, in her name.
