Business of the Year went to Sierra Auto Honda, a family owned business. Raquel McLaughlin and her mother were awarded New Business of the Year.
Ready to rumble. Two of the nation's best 4-year-olds, California Chrome and Shared Belief, will squre off at Santa Anita Park tomorrow. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will ride Shared Belief. Vote centers open for San Gabriel Valley's 49th Assembly District special election. Vote centers will remain open from 10 AM to 7 PM every day for in-person voting or to drop off completed vote-by-mail ballots. The seat was vacated by Democrat Edwin Chau or Arcadia when California Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Chau to serve as judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Democrat Mike Fong runs against Republican Burton Brink in this race. The 49th Assembly District includes Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City, and portions of Montebello and South El Monte. Guilty verdict delivered to Lawrence Joseph Farry, 25, who was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, in the death of former Arcadia resident Joan Milazzo in August last year. Farry struck Milazzo with his car in the Del Sur area of North County San Diego. Milazzo grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, graduated from Alverno High School in Sierra Madre and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Parish in Sierra Madre.
