A 61-year-old construction worker who died after being run over by a bulldozer while working to level a vacant residential lot in Arcadia last month was identified as Sirpriano Dorame-Martinez of South Gate. The accident took place April 15 in the 900 block of Monte Verde Drive.
The Salvation Army has opened Oakcrest Adult Rehabilitation Center in Arcadia. The Oakcrest residence is a free, six month residential treatment program for women overcoming drug and alcohol addictions. It is located at 180 West Huntington Drive.
Arcadia to celebrate Law Day with free legal advice Ask-a-Lawyer Program at Arcadia Public Library on April 29. This event has been going on annually for 19 years.
The Successful Partners Adult Reading Center (SPARC) of Arcadia, has been awarded a $775 grant from the Laubach Literacy National Book Scholarship Fund (NBSF). The grant will be used to purchase New Readers Press books and other educational resources to promote literacy and good reading habits at home.
Arcadia 16-year-old Roger A. Lewis, who was struck by a car while bicycling, has died. The accident occurred over the weekend at Santa Anita Avenue and Duarte Road. The driver who struck Lewis was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Lewis was a former student at Arcadia High School.

Huntington High School started an Independent Study Program last September. The program is free and open to anyone older than 18 who did not finish their diploma. 75 students are currently enrolled in this successful program.
Arcadia Unified School District offering free COVID-19 rapid take-home tests for every student through the month of January. They held a drive-through pick-up event on January 4 and 5 at Arcadia Performing Arts Center at 188 Campus Drive. In addition to these rapid tests, which were provided by the California Department of Health, the district also has their regular testing located at Arcadia Education Center, which is for Arcadia Unified School District students and staff, free of charge.
The foundation of Arcadia's first redevelopment project is being poured at the corner of 5th Avenue and Huntington Drive. The prime tenant of the 3-story office building will be Arcadia's Southland National Bank.
Brandon Michael Landreth, a teacher at John Muir High School in Pasadena, is the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of Justo Cesar Morales, who was killed in Arcadia earlier this week.
