Helen Jackson, a master artist in making handmade quilts, spoke about the history of quilting at the Arcadia Public Library and displayed many of her quilts.
Arcadia celebrated 100 years of cityhood with a cameo appearance by Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin, portrayed by John Reuter. Activities included a scavenger hunt, author book signing for Visions of Arcadia, and the unveiling of the bronze peacock topping the fountain. The peacock was sculpted by Dave Chapple.
Lisa Welchert, who crashed into a station wagon, killing John Chan, while driving drunk, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

A 30-year old man was shot in an apparent robbery in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. He was pronounced dead at Huntington Memorial Hospital. The suspect got away.
Jim McConnell recalls playing on the 1969 Arcadia Pony League All-Stars team. The baseball team of 13-14 year old boys made it to the Pony League "World Series" in Washington, PA that year.
