The Trask Boy Scout Camp in the San Gabriel Mountains has a new multi-purpose building, thanks in part to the Arcadia Rotary Club. The building is named after Arcadia resident Nick Pokrajac.
Arcadia Rotary to raise funds to renovate Fort Rotary-Camp Trask. Tallman H. Trask Scout Reservation in dire need of repairs after years of neglect. It is located in the area above Monrovia Canyon. Fort Rotary was built in 2003.
Arcadia Rotary Club and Arcadia Chinese Association (ACA) announce plans to restore Fort Rotary, a two-story western-style Boy Scout fort in the foothills behind Monrovia. This is historic, the first coordinated project between these two organizations. Architect Kevin Le from Le Architecture in Monrovia, has already volunteered his time to help. The project is expected to cost up to $140,000. So far, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has pledged $25,000, ACA has pledged $25,000 and Arcadia Rotary has pledged $22,000 on behalf of Mary Hansen of Arcadia.
Michael Dougherty of Boy Scout Troop 103 has attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Fewer than two percent of all scouts nationally earn the Eagle rank, the highest honor that can be achieved in the Boy Scouts of America.
Frank Perini, longtime Arcadia Rotary member and hairdresser, honored on his 93rd birthday. He had 58 years of perfect attendance in Rotary. Frank Perez changed his name to the Italian sounding Perini to be able to buy a house and to be accepted into Arcadia Rotary.
Perini's Hair Plus named a "business icon" by Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and Arcadia Historical Society. Frank Perini opened his barbershop in Arcadia in 1954. He joined Arcadia Rotary Club shortly after opening his shop.
Lee Shimmin honored by Arcadia Rotary Club and Arcadia City Council as City of Arcadia 2019 Senior of the Year for his contributions and service as a volunteer to the community.
A "real" Youth Hut will be built at Longley Way School to replace the old World War II barracks buildings. It will be built be the Arcadia Rotary Club and named in honor of long time member H. T. Michlen.
Jeffrey Fullington, son of Chuck and Sheryl Fullington of Arcadia, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by the San Gabriel Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Arcadian Bob Knox has been scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 5 for 18 years. He has been awarded the "Good Scout Award" by the San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America.
