Mikki Porretta of Arcadia, has recovered her stolen car, a 2008 Cadillac CTS, and the cherished family photos that were in the trunk. The car was stolen in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue at 6PM Wednesday last week. The car was recovered at Sunset Boulevard and Valley Drive.
Attempted murder in Arcadia on June 25, 2013 at 1:38 PM. There were shots fired in the area of Lovell Avenue, just south of Duarte Road. The intended shooting victim ducked and was not hit by the gunshots. See also Mountain Views News, p. A6, June 29, 2013.
Richard John Villareal, Jr., 28, received a sentence of more than 15 years in prison for a car crash following a police pursuit in Temple City that killed his passenger. The defendant led Arcadia police officers on a high-speed pursuit after they attempted to pull him over for driving a stolen car near Workman and Baldwin Avenue.
An overnight break-in occurred at Burlington Coat Factory in Arcadia, at 1201 S. Baldwin Avenue. Employee found a jewelry display case had been smashed open. Arcadia police searched the store but no suspect was found. It was not clear what, if anything, had been stolen, other than the jewelry from the case.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger offers $20,000 reward in Arcadia investigation into heinous murder of Chyong Jen Tsai, a 76-year-old Arcadia woman, whose body was found on April 9, 2019 in her backyard in 300 block of East Forest Avenue. Her 2005 Lexus RX300 is believed to have been stolen from her home.
Two Arcadia homes found by Arcadia Police Department to be used for indoor marijuana growing operations in the 1800 block of South Baldwin Avenue and the 300 block of West Woodruff Avenue. Gao Ming, 46-year-old male from Arcadia, Jia Hui Shen, 27-year-old male from El Monte, and Lan Lau, a 34-year-old female from Arcadia, were arrested and booked at Arcadia City Jail.
A passenger (name withheld pending notification to next of kin) in a stolen vehicle was killed and another hurt yesterday following a pursuit by Arcadia police. Richard John Villareal, 28, of Arcadia, and his male passenger led Arcadia police on a chase that ended about 11:40 AM on Lower Azusa Road and Arden Drive in Temple City when the stolen car crashed into two other vehicles. Police find woman’s body in Arcadia backyard in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue. A 76-year-old Arcadia woman was killed yesterday at her home and her vehicle was stolen. The coroner’s office has not yet identified the woman. Neighbors said she was a longtime resident with two daughters and a grandson. The motive behind the killing is unknown.
Arcadia Public Library Foundation donates over $16,000 to Arcadia Public Library. The money will be used to fund Kaleidoscope Classical Concerts, more chairs for the library auditorium, more new adult Chinese language materials, more copies of best seller e-books, updated software for the preschool computers, and updated performances rights DVDs for Children's programming.

Arcadia kidnapping, rape suspect Philippe Brian Lutete, 29, is charged with false imprisonment and sexual battery of a woman on November 26 in the 2900 block of Spruce Court. He was out on bail when he was also arrested on April 8, 2015 on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a woman over an 11-hour period.

Four men try to rob an Arcadia couple outside their home near Lovell Avenue and Camino Real Avenue. They are in the jewelry business and just got home after attending a trade show. The couple believe the robbers followed them home. Anyone with information should call Arcadia police detectives.

Former Arcadia Police Department officer Christian Blesch gets 180 days in jail for pilfering more than $40,000 from the Arcadia Police Officers Association. He has paid back the amount stolen and resigned.
Three women were violently robbed in a span of a week in the 99 Ranch Market parking lot at 1300 S. Golden West Avenue. In two of the incidents, a passenger leaned out of a car to grab purses, and in the other incident, two men pushed a woman to the ground, kicked her in the face and stole her purse.
