Vons Market, which operates 328 grocery stores in Southern California, has moved its corporate headquarters from El Monte to Michillinda Avenue, between Sunset Boulevard and Huntington Drive. The 240,000 square foot building, a former May Co. store that closed in January 1989, will house 950 Vons employees.
May Co. has bowed out of the proposed expansion of the Santa Anita Fashion Park. As a result, the project's price tag should drop from $75 million to approximately $32 million.

Pasadena's Lighthouse Christian Store on Lake Avenue closed its business earlier this month, due to tough competition from bookstores like Amazon and big box stores like Costco, Sam's Club and Target. Lighthouse still has locations in Long Beach and Orange, but their stores in Glendale and Arcadia both closed in recent years.

A Los Angeles-based investment firm will infuse the Santa Anita Cos. with $138.3 million to transform the race track and shopping mall business into a broad-based sports, leisure and entertainment company.
Macy's and Robinsons-May will merge in an $11 billion deal that will reshape the southland retail landscape. The Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita currently has both stores.
Residents in much of the San Gabriel Valley can now shop for groceries online from Arcadia based Vons Company. Vons.com offers the same products as found in the stores at the same price, but charges $9.95 for delivery.

John Trilca, owner of the Trilco Co., an upholstery business at 202-214 North First Ave., is seeking City approval to raze the existing structure and construct an industrial building. The current structure may be 100 years old. It's history is discussed.
Macy's will relaunch at more than 800 sites nationwide, after parent company Federated Department Stores acquired May Department Stores in August 2005. The Robinsons-May in Arcadia became property of the Westfield Group and plans for the site have not been announced.
