The seven finalists have been selected for the Royal Court for the 2006 Rose Parade. One princess is Alyssa Jones, 18, of Arcadia, who attends Pasadena City College.
Horse racing at Fairplex Park started its 64th season at the Los Angeles County Fair. Earlier this summer officials proposed moving the races to Santa Anita Park. The California horse Racing Board denied their request on June 26.
Actor Doris Roberts from TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond" was the keynote speaker at a conference on aging at the Arcadia Community Center. It was sponsored by the Los Angeles Commission for Woman and the County Commission on Aging.
Natalie Innocenzi, 16, of Arcadia, who attends Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Canada, was named the 92nd Rose Queen of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Princess June Ko of Arcadia High School and reigning Rose Queen Courtney Chou Lee, a graduate of Arcadia High School, congratulate her. H&M, the Swedish chain store, had its grand opening in Old Pasadena. Later in November, a 17,000 square foot H&M will open in Arcadia's Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita.
