Mayor George Fasching blasted a group of nine former mayors for distributing an open letter that accused the new City Council of breaking the law by asking City Manager George Watts to resign.
Arcadian Darlis Clark, who sued the LA Police Dept. for allegedly lying to a judge and falsifying information to obtain a search warrant to search her home in June, 1987, lost her federal civil rights lawsuit in a 6-0 verdict. The LAPD had hoped to link Clark in an investigation of ZZZBest carpet cleaning whiz kid Barry Minkow and organized crime.
On April 6, Arcadia will have a local election to fill two City Council seats and the position of City Clerk. Arcadian Elene Chaffee Loebbecke was awarded the George Washington Medal of Honor from the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge for her lifelong volunteerism.
Funeral services were held May 30 for Marie S. Donnelly, a longtime member of the Arcadia Republican Women's Club who died May 25, two days short of her 96th birthday.
