Brian Magallanes, 19, of Duarte, Eulises Andres, 19, of La Puente, and Stephanie Iraheta, 18, of La Puente, were arrested in connection to a residential burglary in Arcadia on May 23, 2012 in the 900 block of Panorama.
Sara Olivia Bravo, 28, of La Puente, is being charged in a pretrial hearing with second degree murder and vehicular manslaughter for the death of a 3-year-old boy, Talmin Moye II.
James Jason Stathum was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the videotaped fatal shooting of Arcadia resident Munther Farah Gharib. At the time of the shooting, Gharib was working in a La Puente convenience store.
A 3-year-old boy died when the car he was riding in was struck by a stolen vehicle being chased by Arcadia Police. The suspect that stole the car has been identified as Sara Bravo, 26, of La Puente.
Ryka Aoki, a novelist of speculative fiction from Rosemead has written a book set in the San Gabriel Valley. Its title is Light from Uncommon Stars. She drops in local landmarks such as the Donut Hole in La Puente and the Arcadia Santa Anita Plaza.

Russell J. Ribb, former superintendent for the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District, has been named to serve as Arcadia's interim school superintendent. Elaine Boyce of the School Service of California, a Sacramento-based consulting firm, has been hired to recruit a new superintendent.
Another homeless village set to open in Baldwin Park. 16-unit tiny home complex will house families in need. It's called Serenity Homes, 13167 Garvey Avenue in Baldwin Park. Senator Susan Rubio, D-West Covina, celebrated the opening with elected officials from all over the San Gabriel Valley, including from Arcadia, Azusa, Glendora, La Puente, Monrovia, San Marino, South Pasadena, Temple City and Mount San Antonio College. It is the second tiny homes village opening in Baldwin Park within a year and serves as a model for how cities can expand homeless services.
Home prices in California have dropped almost 42% from a year ago, November, as a glut of foreclosed homes drove first-home buyers to buy on the bottom end. Statewide, a single-family home cost a median price of $285,680. In Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley housing market is in bad shape. According to the California Association of Realtors, prices around the San Gabriel Valley ranged from lows of $256,000 in La Puente to highs of $692,500 in Arcadia, which saw a slight drop of only 4.8%, compared to last year.
A blaze that gutted a house at 78 W. Las Flores early Saturday morning appears to have started accidentally. The blaze left a man and a woman dead, and a 7 year old boy in critical condition.
Arcadia welcomes the 49th Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The house will be a 1941 Monterey Colonial house designed by renowned architect Roland E. Coate. It will be renovated by Southern California's prominent interior and exterior designers and will open for public tours April 21-May 19, 2013. The showcase house is a fundraiser that supports bringing music and art programs to children.
Firefighters rescued a 7-year old boy from an upstairs bedroom as fire engulfed the home at 70 W. Las Flores Ave. They were unable to save a man and woman inside the house, who were found dead.
Traces the history of the house recently demolished at the northeast corner of First and Wheeler. Dr. Flecher Green Sanborn, the first doctor in Arcadia, bought the house in 1919 (original owner unknown).
The 49th Annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design "Empty House Party" draws a crowd of nearly 500 design enthusiasts and architecture aficionados in Arcadia, at the showcase home designed by architect Roland E. Coate, Sr. The house was built in 1941 for furniture executive C. Lawrence Barker, of the former furniture company Barker Brothers.
Arcadia Fire Department and Monrovia Fire Department resonded to a fire that destroyed a vacant Arcadia house in the 1300 block of South First Avenue. The house was in the process of being sold and was in escrow. The damage is estimated at $300,000.
