Pasadena Showcase House of Design features the 1937 Federal country-style Locke House in Arcadia. The annual fundraiser is going virtual due to the pandemic lockdown. The house was originally built by Hollywood society architect Gerard Colcord in 1937. For this fundraiser, there were 17 designers who contributed to the renovation. This nonprofit supports music and arts programs in Southern California.

House passes preservation bill on a bipartisan vote. The Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act, or House Resolution 803 seeks to conserve 1 million acres of public land in California, much of it in Southern California. HR 803 incorporates two local measures, including the San Gabriel Mountains Foothills and Rivers Protection Act that will protect the Angeles National Forest, located just north of Arcadia.

Robbers tie up couple inside home in a gated area of Arcadia, steal their Tesla. The robbers abandoned the Tesla in East Pasadena. The robbery occurred in the 700 block of Carriage House Lane around 10:30 PM on April 16.

House of Representatives appropriations bill to offer money for shuttle system to forest area. Nearly
$1 million will provide for project to local areas. US Forest Service planning a shuttle to Chantry Flat, a
forest site north of Arcadia and Sierra Madre, that links to trails and Sturtevant Falls.
Plans for a $700,000 building to house the City Council have been approved, but the whole project has bogged down over the projected $89,500 needed to make the existing City Hall conform to the new building. The famed old Eaton's Restaurant will be demolished and plans have been submitted for a smaller building which will house: a) CoCo's - a high class coffee shop b) Plankhouse - steak, lobster, bar, entertainment. The owners will be Far West Services, Inc., which owns such restaurants as the Reuben E. Lee in Newport.

Opposing forces are preparing for the March 1 City Council meeting. At this time the Council will decide whether to permit Mr. McCaslin to develop the area in lots of 18,000 to 20,000 square feet and keep the mansion, or to hold him to the 30,000 square feet set by the Planning Commission and risk losing the house built by Anita Baldwin.
Arcadia teachers picketed the open house at Arcadia High School to protest the 1978-79 raise offered by the Arcadia Board of Education. The teachers claim they received a 3.5% salary adjustment (vs. the average San Gabriel Valley increase of 5.5%) while the Board claims a 5% increase retroactive to December 1, 1978.
