Matthew Jacobus was stabbed once in the back following a minor car accident on Huntington Drive near Santa Clara. One of three men in the other car approached Jacobus after sideswiping his car and stabbed him.
20-year-old man Jason Scott Gustin found guilty of attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend in Arcadia. On August 22, 2016, according to testimony at trial, Gustin met near Arcadia and sat in his car to talk when he pulled out a knife and slashed her throat and then began strangling her. As the victim tried to escape, he stabbed her multiple times. She ran away to a nearby convalescent home. He was arrested a short time later after he showed up at his mother’s workplace in Arcadia.
A federal judge overturned several charges in the case of Arcadia man George Torres, 52, accused of running his Numero Uno grocery store chain in Los Angeles like an organized crime ring. He had been convicted of racketeering charges, solicitation of murder and multiple tax and fraud charges when prosecutors came forward with new evidence that appeared to exonerate him on the more serious charges. Torres was released from federal custody after being held without bail for two years.
A U.S. District judge overturned convictions for bribery, mail, wire and tax fraud and harboring illegal immigrants, against George Torres, 52, of Arcadia, the former owner of Numero Uno supermarket chain. The judge threw out the more serious convictions for racketeering, conspiracy and solicitation of murder, back in June. Torres has been set free after 2 years in custody.
On February 20, 1997 Arcadia police officers responded to an emergency call in the 600 block of S. First Avenue regarding a stabbing in progress. A suspect was arrested and the victim transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Ex-boyfriend of Arcadia woman charged with kidnapping. The ex-boyfriend's name is Robert Michael Mendez, age 27. The woman was hospitalized. Doorbell camera footage showed a man dragging a woman.
Troy Lucarelli, 43, of Temple City, was arrested by Monrovia Police, after he broke into a woman's home in Arcadia, robbed her of her car keys and stole her car in the 900 block of Paloma Drive.
A woman shot in Arcadia early Monday morning appears to be a case of suicide rather than murder. Joseph Frank Randazzo is still being held for suspicion of murder while the investigation continues.
23 year old Arcadian Jimmy Palma was ambushed and stabbed to death October 13 in the exercise yard of San Quentin State Prison. A Superior Court judge sentenced him to die for killing two children and their mother in El Monte in 1995.
Detectives release more information about the murdered woman, Liya "Jessie" Lu. Her body was stuffed into a plastic trash container and covered with kitty litter to mask the odor. Police are still earching for suspect Isaac Campbell, boyfriend of the deceased.
