22-year-old Miguel Fernandez of Arcadia was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and killed when the truck careened out of control and flipped upside down at the intersection of Del Mar Boulevard and Hill Avenue.

The 33rd Annual Crystal Ball to benefit USC Arcadia Hospital was held on November 5 at the Pasadena Convention Center and raised $694,000 for the USC Arcadia Hospital Foundation. Paul Rusnak of Rusnak Auto Group was honored.
The 50,000 square foot property on the northeast corner of Wheeler and First has been sold for $215,000. The former owners were Robert and Phyllis Walker. The site will be used for the corporate headquarters for HTL Industries and a two story office building to be built by Jeff Jons and Jim Kuhn. A 50-foot-long "Sport of Kings" float will be the Arcadia entry in the 106th Rose Parade, whose theme is "Sports-Quest for Excellence." On the float, 5 horses are racing past a gazebo, featuring Arcadia's Royal Court, to the finish line. The 2 lead horses will be ridden by jockeys.
