Adam Chu is an entrepreneur opening a seafood grill restaurant in Monrovia on April 17, at 123 East Colorado Boulevard. It will be called Big Shrimps Fish Grill. His goal is to keep menu items reasonably priced because he is also the supplier. he imports seafood under the company he founded called Five Star Seafoods. Chu moved the operations of Five Star from Arcadia to the second floor of the new building that will house his restaurant.
Arcadia Chamber of Commerce launches new networking campaign. Pop-Up mixers are held monthly at Arcadia bars whose owners are Chamber members. The first one was at Monkey Bar at Westfield Santa Anita mall, January 9. Pop-Up mixers are not advertised in advance, instead information is posted through social media within days of the event. RSVPs are not necessary.

Arcadia to amend sex offender registration to align more with recent state Supreme Court rulings. The amendment would repeal part of Arcadia Municipal Code, Chapter 9.4 of Article IV, which contains residency restrictions for registered sex offenders.

Breeders' Cup: Sport of Kings shines in Southern California at Santa Anita Park. HBO television show "Luck" ends production after a third horse death at Santa Anita Park. The drama, starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte, about the seedier side of horse racing, will air the final two episodes of its first season but the series won't return for a second season. The horse deaths drew criticism from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
HBO, the cable network will start filming the first episodes of a horse racing series starring Dustin Hoffman on October 31, at Santa Anita Park. The series is called "Luck," about the various players of horse racing. Filming for the first year's episodes is expected to run through mid-April.
