25-year old Colleen Kay Hutchins, who represented Utah in the Miss America contest, was named Miss America Saturday night. She is one of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hutchins of Arcadia.
A 47-page pamphlet on teen-age topics such as substance abuse, adolescent suicide and gangs was mailed last month to every Arcadia parent. "The Small Book of Big Issues for Arcadia Parents" was spearheaded by Foothills Middle School parent Carol Eifert.

Arcadia-based Falcon Management Co. owner Robert Forsting agreed to a Star-Tribune interview concerning complaints from customers in Valley cities and Los Angeles. Mr. Forsting said he's had to fire employees who have made mistakes, and the Arcadia Police Department has taken the unusual step of advising those customers to file a class action lawsuit.

Schermerhorn of Arcadia, an executive officer of Submarine Division 11-6, announced new era in the Naval Reserve program, with an additional submarine division that includes maintenance and repair of operationg fleet-type submarines.
Arcadian John W. Combs graduated jet fighter pilot school in Arizona and receives silver wings. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Combs of Arcadia.
Arcadia police arrested two Arcadia High School students 16, and 15, in connection with a December 11 racial incident in which a cross was burned and anti-Asian epithets were scrawled on the front yard of a home in the 200 block of Arbolada Drive. The two boys were booked for damaging property based on ethnic origin and were released to the custody of their parents.

The Arcadia Redevelopment Agency announced Tuesday that it has reached an agreement to build a 122-room hotel in East Arcadia. The deal with ESA Management, the parent company of Extended Stay America, calls for an expected completion date by mid-1998.
