A $9 million budget has been proposed for 1975-76. City manager Lyman Cozad feels that no tax increase will be necessary due to the higher valuation of city property.

30 people were injured on opening day at Santa Anita Park when two men became involved in an altercation. One dropped a gun and this was enough to cause a wave of panic which spread through the crowd.
The 50,000 square foot property on the northeast corner of Wheeler and First has been sold for $215,000. The former owners were Robert and Phyllis Walker. The site will be used for the corporate headquarters for HTL Industries and a two story office building to be built by Jeff Jons and Jim Kuhn. Hoy an Kehler's Arcadia Van Lives, presently on the site, will relocate.
$51,942 for a park at 6th and Longden and $90,000 for one at Colorado have been granted by the State Beach, Park, Recreational and Historical Facilities Bond Act of 1974.
A $222,000 study is underway to determine the strength of the Santa Anita Dam under extreme earthquake stress. The study is to be completed by February 1977.
All work on the east end of the Foothill Freeway in Pasadena should be completed in mid-February. Trains have been using the freeway median since August 12, 1975.
An attorney for the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society has asked the Arcadia City Council to amend the municipal code so as to allow establishment of an animal shelter in Chicago Park.
The Arcadia Board of Education approved a tentative $16.7 million budget. Included was an increase in special education programs. The figures are only estimates and will depend in part on any state school finance formulas to be decided.
The Arcadia chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for a site for a new building. One possibility is on county property, adjacent to the rose garden at Arcadia County Park.
The Arcadia chapter of the Red Cross is seeking to become a regional subcenter for blood collection and processing for the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Authorities say that such a center on the grounds of the Methodist Hospital would be ideal.
The Arcadia City Council has imposed stringent regulations on roofing materials for new hillside developments. Non-combustible Class A roofing material for new construction in Arcadia's residential-mountainous zone is required.
Arcadia City Council must decide how to pay the Metropolitan Water District taxes for 1979-80. Currently the city pays 50% and the property owners pay 50%.

Arcadia has received a domestic water permit from the State. In 1973 the California State Health Department inspected Arcadia's system along with 240 other systems in Los Angeles and Orange Counties and only 15 systems received permits.
