Arcadia badges pay tribute to history. Arcadia Police Department employees will wear old-fashioned badges made to look like those that local lawmen pinned to their uniforms 100 years ago. The special Centennial badge will be worn during 2003.

The Arcadia Chinese Association announced Tuesday that it has withdrawn support for a one-week trip to Taiwan by Arcadia's police chief, saying it had turned into a divisive political and racial issue.

Because of budget cuts, the nearly 50-year-old Santa Anita Courthouse jail in Monrovia is expected to close. According to Arcadia Police Chief David Hinig, the closing of the Santa Anita Court will follow within months. Closing of the lockup will affect both Arcadia and Monrovia police departments.
"Blind Justice", a glazed tile mosaic created in 1958 by artist Jay Rivkin and located next to the front entrance of the Arcadia Police Department, will be reduced to rubble when the aging Huntington Drive Police station is torn down this summer.
