American Pharoah's trainer Bob Baffert and his wife Jill donated $150,000 to three charities. Jockey Victor Espinoza, who rode American Pharoah to win 2015 Triple Crown, donated all his earnings from Belmont Stakes race to City of Hope.
Appeals court in Kentucky rejects Bob Baffert's bid to halt ban. Signage outside Baffert's barn at Santa Anita Park was removed as part of a California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) rule that mandates any trainer who is suspended for 60+ days be banned from all CHRB-licensed facilities.
Bob Baffer, horse trainer, is denied stay of suspension by Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. He has been suspended for 90 days, effective March 8 through June 5, and was fined $7,500. He was trainer of Medina Spirit, a horse that is now deceased but tested positive for the steroid betamethasone following the Kentucky Derby last May 1. Medina Spirit was stripped of the Kentucky Derby crown and collapsed and died on December 6, 2021 of a heart attack after a trianing run at Santa Anita Park.
Bob Baffert, a Hall of Fame horse trainer, had a heart attack in Dubai, where he was preparing a horse named Game on Dude in the $10 million Dubai World Cup. Baffert's assistant Jim Barnes, said from Santa Anita Park, that Baffert was doing well after having three stents inserted into two arteries.
Corniche turns two for opening day victory. Bob Baffert trained Corniche, a horse that has won the American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita Park during its fall meet. Jockey Mike Smith rode Corniche. Baffert is the famed trainer of the 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.
