On February 20, 1997 Arcadia police officers responded to an emergency call in the 600 block of S. First Avenue regarding a stabbing in progress. A suspect was arrested and the victim transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Two Arcadia homes used for indoor marijuana growing operations. Warrants were served and arrests were made in the 1800 block of South Baldwin Avenue and the 300 block of West Woodruff. A third house, on the 2700 block of Gilpin Way, was discovered to be an indoor marijuana cultivation house, too.
Two corporate executives found guilty in first-ever criminal prosecution for failure to report under the Consumer Product Safety Act.
