The procedure adopted requires review by the Planning Commission and the City Council of all preliminary site plans, floor plans, exterior architectural improvements, and new construction.

The City of Arcadia has finalized a deal with the Church of Arcadia so the church can move forward with its expansion. The city will pay the church $3.6 million and give it a 1.2 acre property at 630 E. Live Oak Avenue, in exchange for the church property at 21 Morlan Place. The church plans to build a two-story, 23,000 square feet church and meeting hall on the Live Oak Avenue lot. The Morlan Place property is near Rusnak Mercedes Benz.

Competing measures will go to voters in May. Measure A, sponsored by Manny Romero, the owner of Rod's Grill, would prohibit automobile sales in an area bounded by Santa Anita Avenue, Huntington Drive, and Morlan Place for twelve years. Measure B would allow auto sales and related uses on the block and contains a provision to eliminate eminent domain as a tool to acquire property for future development in downtown area.
Construction on new Rusnak Mercedes Benz showroom is fully underway in Arcadia. Its current location at 55 W. Huntington Drive will be expanded. Additions will include a 22,500 square feet, 2-story structure in the 100 block of Santa Anita Avenue, to include 78,000 square feet for vehicle service and repairs, storage and parking.
Controversial proposed barn expansion in Arcadia undergoes public review. Santa Anita Park seeks to expand horse stabling with 816 stalls and ancillary services, such as 70 tack and 70 feed storage bins, 36 office spaces, employee cafe and recreation area, a 2-story 27,360 square feet grooms' building (with 104 dormitory units) and a 14,450 square feet covered manure transfer facility.
