The Children's Room will be completely refurbished - partly with city funds and partly from a drive headed by Mayor Charles Gilb. It will be renamed the Jerry Broadwell Children's Library as a memorial to Fire Captain Jerry Broadwell who died in a fire in August 1975.
Charles Gilb is the chairman of a new Auditorium Committee and asks anyone in the community with any ideas to attend any of a week of informal hearings being held to determine community support.
In a letter to the Tribune, Chairman Charles Gilb says that the auditorium project is ready to move forward. A non-profit corporation has been set up and this will make donations tax-deductible. January 12 was the first day that candidates for City Council could take out nomination papers. Those doing so were incumbents Charles Gilb and Jack Saelid. Don Pellegrino of Pellegrino's Restaurant has indicated that he will also file. Others are also considering running.
Councilman Charles Gilb believes businesses all important. He is a candidate for re-election for Arcadia City Council. See hard copy of newspaper in Box 51.
