Arcadia welcomes the 49th Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The house will be a 1941 Monterey Colonial house designed by renowned architect Roland E. Coate. It will be renovated by Southern California's prominent interior and exterior designers and will open for public tours April 21-May 19, 2013. The showcase house is a fundraiser that supports bringing music and art programs to children.

The architectural firm of Sevar and Associates and Dave Szany and Associates have relocated their offices in the restored and remodeled Southern Counties Gas Building. The building, constructed in 1926, is one of the original buildings on First Avenue. It was the home of the Gas Company for 33 years.

Word persists from people in the area, that house was built by a former Cabinet Officer. A title search was done on the house for us in 1975: the one name on list of owners that is a possibility is MELLON.
