Huntington Drive can be seen in center of photo with young trees planted on north side of it. Santa Anita Race Track is one furthest from camera. The next small track is a training track belonging to Santa Anita. There is a VERY small round track across the street from the training track, which was part of a private horse stables. Baldwin Ranch greenhouse located south of the Adobe, is pictured behind a row of whitewashed granite boulders. By 1905, these boulders lined all interior ranch roads. Baldwin's initials, E.J.B., are lettered in stone in front of the greenhouse.

View of intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Duarte Road. Service station on the NE corner was owned by Mr. Renshaw. There is a two story house just north of station. There has been a recent snow fall in the San Gabriel Mountains. Home to the north is F.E. Grote home.
Photo taken by TABER (studio) shows 31 of Elias J. Baldwin's African-American employees. Elias J. Baldwin hired them from the south in 1886 to come work on the Baldwin Ranch. There seems to be only one man in photo. All others are women and children. They are standing next to a building with a long porch; doors and windows open off of it. San Gabriel Mountains are seen in background.

Photo of log cabin bearing a sign which reads:"Old Log Cabin. In the early 1880's E.J. Baldwin had this log cabin transported from his father's farm in Hamilton, Indiana, where he spent his early boyhood, to Rancho Santa Anita." We have been told signs like this identifying the various places of interest on the Baldwin Ranch were prevalent.
Bobcat Fire, on its 9th day in the San Gabriel Mountains, continued to grow north of the San Gabriel Valley. It had charred 38,299 acres Monday with containment at 3%. The fire has crossed to west side of Santa Anita Canyon. On Sunday, residents in Arcadia and Sierra Madre who live north of Elkins Avenue and east of Santa Anita Avenue were ordered to evacuate. About 305 homes were in the evacuation zone. Most are in Arcadia and 32 are in Sierra Madre.
