Twenty-six modular structures at the United States Forest Service (U.S.F.S.) site, located in the 700 block of North Santa Anita Avenue, were destroyed by fire on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the early morning. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Preliminary findings indicate the cause of the fire was accidental.

Iconic Arcadia windmill will turn, turn, turn. Former Arcadia Mayor George Fasching spearheaded the effort to get Denny's windmill running again. Restoration work will begin soon, with June as the target for the windmill to run again. The windmill was the trademark for Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakery, which was at this site, at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue, in 1967.

Arcadia has new hiking shuttle. U.S. Forest Service starts bus service to Chantry Flat trails from Arcadia Gold Line station. The shuttle goes to Chantry Flat Road, an area that connects to trails that lead to Sturtevant Falls, Hermit Falls, and historic Mount Wilson. The shuttle will run the next three weekends. Data from the "How America Gives" report shows the charitable deductions claimed by United States taxpayers on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) returns for 2008. It shows Arcadians gave $54.1 million to charity, or 4.7 percent of their incomes.

Verizon may pursue legal action against Arcadia over City Council's rejection of its petition to construct a 53 feet tall faux bell cell phone tower. City Manager Dominic Lazzaretto, in an email, stated that no litigation has been filed but Verizon has indicated they are reviewing their options, including a lawsuit. The new location will be on the 100 block of Santa Anita Avenue and will also include 78,000 s.f. for vehicle service, repairs, storage, and parking. The dealership's annual sales for 2014 was $170.5 million.

Denny's windmill spins again. The windmill atop Denny's at northeast corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive was designed by Harold Bissner as the template for Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakery's coffee shop franchise. It opened in 1967 in Arcadia, the first of 15 built from his designs. Denny's bought the location in 1989. Denny's spent $100,000 refurbishing the windmill.
