McCoy Building, a two story building which was located at 233 N. First Avenue on west side of First Avenue at St. Joseph Sreet. Date on sign at top of building is 1910. Window and awning have FRANK McCOY GENERAL MERCHANDISE printed on them. Standing in front of store are two men and a woman. Building was demolished in September 1973.
Shoemaker Al Yarter standing out in front of shops he built on North First Ave. The family lived in the house between the two shops. Mr. Yarter's grandson, Pat Carlin, told us in 1980 that Mr. Yarter bought the land from Anita Baldwin for a stated price. Later, he was told by an agent, that because the lot was within the lighting district, he would need to pay an additional amount. When Mr. Yarter spoke directly to Anita Baldwin about this, she said it had been her mistake and he would pay only what had been agreed upon. Groceries on the left and Arcadia Shoe Shop on the right.

Post Office is largest building in center of the block on north side of Wheeler Avenue. Large white area is parking area for Santa Anita Park Race Track.

This later became the Sawmill Restaurant and in the early 1990's became Sports Rock Cafe. Directly opposite, is cleared land where Arcadia Public Library, Fire and Police were previously located. Today there is a Medical Building on the site (65 N. First Avenue). Santa Anita Park and parking lot are seen in the distance.
Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin Packing House which was located just north of Oakwood Hotel and beside Santa Fe Railroad tracks. Printing on the roof is announcement of Baldwin property for sale in Los Angeles, Arcadia, Monrovia and El Monte. On sides of building, the fruits and wines available are given. Arcadia Presbyterian Church at NE corner of First and Alice Streets prior to building new sanctuary in early 1970's. (Discrepancy in date of "c.1965." Per Teri Weeks, a long-time church member, this church building was torn down in 1961 and new sanctuary was built in 1962, so this photo was probably 1950s.

Home (at right side of photo) and business building owned by Dr. and Mrs. Fletcher G. Sanborn. Home was at 100 N. First and contained the doctor's office for his practice. The office block contained the numbers 102-104 N. First Ave. Photo was taken shortly after completion.
