Stone house at 58 W. Grandview. Small girl in foreground possibly Dextra Baldwin. Anita Baldwin purchased 22 acres of her father's land for $10.00 on March 8, 1892. (see Arcadia VF-Baldwin, Anita) Anita's father built stone cottage in May 1902 on lot 7 and part of lots 8&9 in block 98 of Santa Anita Tract. (This information came from Mrs. Sharlene Cartier, who owned the house in 1973.)

View east on Huntington Drive from intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive. Community Church on NE corner was moved in 1934 to S. First Street and became Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Two storied building on NW corner was City Hall. Large sign on south side may say: Arcadia Pharmacy.

A man is standing at the left head of the table, arm raised with a knife in his hand. This man is possibly Harold Stocker. Clara's butler is seen to the right of the floral centerpiece. Handwritten note along bottom of the photo reads "Oaks Barbecue May 14 1915." The "Oaks" was the name for Clara's home.

View from Campus Drive looking toward front entry of Arcadia Unified School District offices at 234 Campus Drive. The offices here closed on April 4, 2014 and this building was demolished on July 7, 2014. The school district offices moved to a new location at 150 S. 3rd Avenue on April 4, 2014 and then opened to the public on April 14, 2014.
Rowing on the lake in a boat named CLARA are Clara Baldwin Stocker (second from right), Lucky Baldwin's elder daughter; Clara's fourth husband, Harold Stocker (rowing); and several friends. A copy of this photo appears in the March 2, 1909 Los Angeles Daily Times pt.II p.8 with the following identification: FAMILY GROUP ON THE LAKE AT SANTA ANITA. Left to right, in boat - Mr. Mathews, Mrs. F.D. Black, Mr. Stocker ("Lucky's son-in-law), Mrs. H.C. Wyatt, in white; Mrs. Stocker (Lucky's daughter) and Mrs. Scott. There are seven people seated in the boat, but only six names are identified in the newspaper article. Article is in Arcadia History file Baldwin, Elias J. Looking west on Duarte Road near intersection with Baldwin Avenue. Ericsson's Pharmacy is listed at 1201 S. Baldwin. West Arcadia Public Market was owned by Mr. C.M. Knott and was located at 1203 S. Baldwin. The new building under construction here on S.E. corner apparently at 1200 S. Baldwin was for the Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings according to 1928 City Directory.

Serbian Orthodox Church of Christ the Savior at 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. This congregation bought property from the American Lutheran Church (later became Lutheran Church of the Cross) in 1963. View is taken from west side of Baldwin, facing entrance. Note 9-17-2008: The 1963 date of sale is not certain as the 1964-65 city directory has the Lutheran Church of the Cross still occupying 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. Lutheran Church of the Cross moved into a new building in June, 1965 according to item #15 in the Arcadia - Churches VF, so the building may have changed hands in 1965 - (Yvonne Ng).

Lowry McCaslin, on right, stands before fireplace in dining room at Anoakia, which Mr. McCaslin has owned since the mid 1940's. Other people are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Spickler, as identified in Arcadia Tribune article on January 22, 1976. Mr. Spickler was committee chairman for Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association benefit party held at Anoakia Saturday, January 31, 1976. See Arcadia VF-Anoakia Item #17 for article and similar photo. Baldwin family crest is handsomely carved above fireplace.
Group picture of about 36 unidentified women. All appear to be wearing dresses. Part of a brick fireplace is visible. There are tables and chairs set up for a meal or party. An attached note read "Mrs. Woodward 2nd, 212 S. Third, 447-5236" so librarian has written that on the back of the photo.
