Foundation work on South side of Wheeler Avenue at corner of First Avenue is for medical building which became 65 N. First Avenue. (Former site of Arcadia Public Library until 1961.) Post Office is largest building in center of the block on north side of Wheeler Avenue. Large white area is parking area for Santa Anita Park Race Track.

Construction in progress of the one-story Arcadia Police Department building at 250 W. Huntington Drive. Crane and pulley system help put up a wall while workers stand around. Name of company on the crane reads Heisler & Woods, Contractors, Crane Service, El Monte, CA. The name is clearer in photo #1825.

Lowry McCaslin, on right, stands before fireplace in dining room at Anoakia, which Mr. McCaslin has owned since the mid 1940's. Other people are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Spickler, as identified in Arcadia Tribune article on January 22, 1976. Mr. Spickler was committee chairman for Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association benefit party held at Anoakia Saturday, January 31, 1976. Duarte Road, is partly visible on the right corner. The Bow & Arrow Grill at 11 W. Duarte Road is seen just west of the Chevron station. Both businesses are listed in the 1955 City Directory.
