15. Westfield Santa Anita mall sells for $537.5 million. The mall is part of French-based Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield's (URW) continued unloading of assets in the United States. The deal is the largest for a mall in the U.S. since 2018. The property at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, now known as The Shops at Santa Anita is 1.48 million square feet and nearly 100% leased. URW acquired the Santa Anita mall in 2018 as part of its $15.7 billion acquisition of Australia-based Westfield, which had owned and operated the mall since 2007. 2. Flyer shows new features of "Arcadia Searchlight," the library's new catalog that went live on Monday, December 13, 2010. Searchlight is the name for the patron/user catalog, while library staff knows it as Koha. Koha is the new open source ILS (integrated library system). Library has just migrated from Sirsi/Workflows.
3. A "Brown Bag Talk" on the history of the Arcadia Public Library, covering 1913-2010, was given by Carolyn Garner-Reagan, Director of Library & Museum Services, on October 21, 2010, at the Arcadia Historical Museum. This is a script of her talk and slide show.
4. Results of research project by Fuller Theological Seminary student Karisa Harke, reported on December 23, 2010. Harke surveyed 34 high school library users to find out why they use the library. Most respondents said they used the library to do homework or study. Harke found 10 main reasons.
5. Barks and books for readers. Bernie, a 131-pound dog listens to children read at Arcadia Public Library. His trainer is Lois Longo. This program is a partnership between the library and Pasadena Humane Society.
