John "Jack" Ott, dressed in Indian Headdress is seen kissing the nose of an Indian pony (his daughter seemed to remember). Photo apparently was taken on north side of Anita Baldwin's home, Anoakia, shortly after it was completed. Mr. Ott was born in 1877 and came to Arcadia about 1907. He became City Marshal in 1914.
Photo of General John J. Pershing mingling with a group at Ross Field Balloon School. He is accompanied by other officers and there are a number of young boys eager to greet him. Across photo had been written "Balloon School Training" and "1920" and "General Pershing at Arcadia."

Brown shingled house with granite stone chimney and unique floor to ceiling windows by front entry. Brick terrace forms entry. Word persists from people in the area, that house was built by a former Cabinet Officer. A title search was done on the house for us in 1975: the one name on list of owners that is a possibility is MELLON. (In article written by Claire Charles and numbered #4 in Arcadia-Peacocks, on p.23, top of page, she mentions Annie Mellon as living in this house.) Address if 330 E. Duarte Rd. Built c. 1913.

Phase I of Library Renovation/Expansion project at 20 W. Duarte Road. This view shows drainage pipe used to drain water from roof during the rains of winter 1996. The book trucks covered the pipe, which ran all the way out the temporary front doors into what used to be the Children's Room patio. The area behind the book trucks was the sorting area. Arcadia City Council members in a decorated Hupmobile Touring Car parked on Huntington Drive next to City Hall. Behind is a fire truck, also decorated, with 10 firemen on the truck or near by. The vehicles are on their way to dedication of new concrete span over Santa Anita Wash.
