A many as 60 of the trees on Orange Grove Ave., the "county road" running from Michillinda Blvd. to Santa Anita Ave., could be endangered by a proposed road-widening project currently under consideration by Arcadia and Sierra Madre. The street would be widened from 30 to 36 ft. since the street is considered too narrow for the trash bins that residents often leave in the road, constituting a hazard.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has announced the completion of its newest chapel in Arcadia, located at Foothill Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. The structure is described in detail.
Riders head to Pasadena, not Los Angeles. Ridership on the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension is surpassing expectations. The east Pasadena to Azusa/Glendora extension, which opened March 5 is carrying 4000-5000 riders on weekdays and 3800 to 4000 on Saturday and Sunday. 18 percent of the riders from Arcadia Station went to Pasadena. The City Council approved a final agreement that may end the long dispute between Arcadia and Sierra Madre concerning the nearly $2 million cost of repairing and repaving Orange Grove Ave., a street that borders both cities.

Metro adds Gold Line service. Every train will run from Azusa Pacific University/Citrus College to East Los Angeles. Due to unprecedented demand, the Gold Line will run every seven minutes during peak morning and afternoon hours on weekdays. A house-to-house survey of registered voters in Annexation Area 80-2 shows that most of the voters favor annexation by Arcadia over Temple City. Article gives the breakdown by street. The area is an "island" bounded by Temple City Blvd. on the west, Longden Ave. on the south, and the Arcadia boundary on the north and east.
Shoemaker Al Yarter standing out in front of shops he built on North First Ave. The family lived in the house between the two shops. Mr. Yarter's grandson, Pat Carlin, told us in 1980 that Mr. Yarter bought the land from Anita Baldwin for a stated price. Later, he was told by an agent, that because the lot was within the lighting district, he would need to pay an additional amount. When Mr. Yarter spoke directly to Anita Baldwin about this, she said it had been her mistake and he would pay only what had been agreed upon. Groceries on the left and Arcadia Shoe Shop on the right.
Construction of a Vons Market west of Baldwin Avenue between Duarte Road and Naomi Avenue may depend on whether the East Pasadena Water Company accepts the City Council's proposal allowing the city to extend its line into the water company's territory at the western end of the Vons development. The East Pasadena Water Company's lines are too small to be effective in case of fire.
Orange Grove Avenue, which is the border between Arcadia and Sierra Madre, has a posted speed limit of 35 mph on the Arcadia side and 30 mph on the Sierra Madre side.
A continuous left turn lane will be provided in the center of Duarte Road from Lovell Ave. to Baldwin Ave., and directional left turn lights will be installed at the Baldwin and Duarte intersection. This was passed by the Council, requested by the West Arcadia Business and Professional Association.
Pasadena Tournament of Roses new requirement. Royal Court candidates must be vaccinated. Applicants for the Royal Court must turn 17 before December 31, 2021. The Pasadena Area Community College District includes Arcadia, South Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre.
