View north across ranch fields from approximate location of Huntington Drive near present Baldwin White Building. May have been fruit packing shed according to map drawn from memory by Lupe Cuellar. (See photo #123. Also see photo #15 taken from almost the same location.) San Gabriel Mountains across photo.
Photo taken by TABER (studio) shows 31 of Elias J. Baldwin's African-American employees. Elias J. Baldwin hired them from the south in 1886 to come work on the Baldwin Ranch. There seems to be only one man in photo. All others are women and children. They are standing next to a building with a long porch; doors and windows open off of it. San Gabriel Mountains are seen in background.
Photo enlargement of a postcard of about 1909 advertising Tally-Ho trips to Baldwin's Ranch. Printing on card begins: the home of Strathmead at Lucky Baldwin's famous ranch.
Huntington Drive looking east from near intersection of Santa Anita Avenue. This was taken same day as photo #590 looking in the opposite direction. Note both markets on north side were completely open across entire front as was customary at this time. This photograph belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.
The library does not have a print of this negative. A print of this, along with #1385, appears on p. 68 of WHERE RANCH AND CITY MEET. They are of a Pacific Electric excursion brochure, circa 1905. This negative is of the front cover of the brochure, called "Monrovia and Baldwin's Ranch."
