The man at the wheel of the fire truck is Jim Nellis. The Councilmen are: Rear seats,L-R: Ferd E. Gram; Arthur N. Multer; and Charles Hawk. Front seat,L-R: Samuel L. Wheeler; John T. Joyce, the Hupmobile Dealer. Fifth member of Council, John Granville was not present. Seated at the base of the pillar of City Hall is Adrian Winkler and standing beside him is George Newton. The vehicles are on their way to dedication of new concrete span over Santa Anita Wash.

Winners of the Bicycle Rodeo, an event sponsored by Arcadia Police Department and Arcadia Recreation Department, from left to right: Albert Schneider (winner boys 8-14 year old group), Bruce Frazier (winner boys 8 and under), Juanita Curti (winner girls 14 and under), Betsy Bosil (winner girls 8 and under). Pictured behind the children left to right are Police Chief William Orr and Patrolman William Goodman. The Bicycle Rodeo was a contest in bicycle safety and riding skill. Winners received nighttime riding lights and electric horns. The awards were the culmination of bicycle safety instruction offered at Arcadia playgrounds throughout the summer by William Goodman. A similar version of this photograph appeared in Arcadia Tribune, p. 6, August 23, 1956.

Santa Anita School Mrs. Rutherford's fifth grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location. Chief Roy Nakamura became Arcadia’s 30th Police Chief and its first of Asian-American descent on January 9, 2021. Captain Nakamura began his career with the Arcadia Police Department in 1992 as a Police Officer. As an Officer, he was assigned to Patrol and worked as a Field Training Officer, as well as being assigned to the Detective Bureau. As Detective, he was assigned to the Forgery and Fraud Unit and completed his Detective Bureau assignment in the Crimes Against Persons Unit. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2002 and worked as a Field Supervisor until he was transferred to Personnel and Training. In 2009, Captain Nakamura was promoted to Lieutenant, working various assignments under the Operations and Administration Divisions within the Department, including Watch Commander, Detective Bureau Commander, Field Training Officers Program Commander, and Force Training Unit Commander. In 2019, he was promoted to Captain. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly Pomona.
