Northwest intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Duarte Road. Businesses just west of the corner at 713 West Duarte Road are Active Hair, Mail Boxes Etc., Sakana Seafood, Tender Loving Care TLC Realty & Mortgage, Hit's Coffee & Tea, Every Green Books. Unidentified sheepherder who would bring his flock to the fields across from Mauch ranch at Holly Avenue and Palm Avenue. He would bring the sheep after the field crop had been harvested to let them graze on stubble. Dog is also visible next to sheepherder.
Mr. Aloyosius Mauch is seen loading blackberries packed in wooden crates onto flatbed truck. A dog sits on top of one crate. Mr. Mauch's sons helped run the five acre ranch which was at Palm Avenue and Holly Avenue. Information provided by son Henry (86 years old in 1980) and his wife.
Santa Anita School Mrs. Rutherford's fifth grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location.
