H. Richard (Dick) Closson has been elected president of the Huntington Bank. Closson has been in the banking profession for more than 25 years and has resided in Arcadia for 30 years.
Dr. Ed Ryan, who is retiring after 14 years from his position as superintendent of Arcadia schools, has been appointed Director of the Institute for Research in Educational Administration at USC. A fire on July 4th in Alhambra, believed to have been caused by illegal fireworks, destroyed Southland Display, a business that supplied posters and promotional materials to Hollywood movie studios. Arcadia Fire Department and other surrounding area fire departments helped to put out the blaze.
