Showing in this photo are the Track and Club House on a day of large attendance, the stables, and a training track. All along Huntington Drive and Colorado Street young trees have been planted. Old-time resident Reid Greer says that the large tree at the very left edge of photo about 2 1/2 in. from bottom is same tree as seen in photo #654, on flat ground just below knolls seen here, and therefore he places homes of Indians on ranch at this spot. Aerial view toward NE. Plane is over property of Charles W. Stewart (10 acres), and Jaspar Teague (10 acres), at 1320 S. Santa Anita Avenue, which is directly under the plane. Next street east is First Avenue, then Second Avenue, the Fourth Avenue. Reservoir is at corner of Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue and was owned by Walnut Grove Mutual Water Company (Valnett Avenue was first through street south of Duarte Road at this time and became Camino Real).

Alfred Paredes of AP Sculpture Studio is the sculptor (wearing shorts and cap), standing to the right, of the Lucky Baldwin statue called "A Dawn in the West." Photo was taken after the patina was completed at Art Bronze Foundry in Burbank, CA. The two on the left of the statue are artisans who applied the patina. The statue is now located at the Reverend Monsignor Gerald M. O'Keeffe Rose Garden near the Arcadia Community Center at 365 Campus Drive. Printed on inkjet from a JPEG file.

Bob Merget, on left, and helper Torval Yates pictured in front of Merget's Malt Shop located at 111 E. Huntington Drive, where Bank of America was located until its move to N. Santa Anita. It was a tradition on May Day that free cones were given out to all youngsters, according to information given by former residents.

Charles Francis Earl is seen standing next to a tractor, holding his young son, William Earl. Behind the Earl's is the vacant lot Mr. Earl purchased in the mid 1930s when it was a hayfield. The vacant lot as seen in this photo is shortly before construction began on their home in late 1951 and early 1952. When constructed, the address was 1050 Paloma Drive. See also Photo #1634.
