History Lives Here-11th marker unveiled at Arcadia Transit Plaza. The latest marker features many railroads that once crisscrossed Arcadia and is placed at the former site of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway's Arcadia Depot.

Arcadia Santa Fe Station -- Originally located at First Avenue and St. Joseph Street, the Arcadia Railroad Station was built in 1887 by the Santa Fe Railroad. This is the artist's conception of the station as it might have appeared in the early 1900s, complete with gables, turrets and cupolas. The wood-frame, three-room structure was built to provide passenger service to and from Los Angeles. In later years, it was used exclusively for freight. In 1971, the building was moved to the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona, where it was restored.

The proposed site for Arcadia's Gold Line station is just east of Santa Anita Avenue, at the First Avenue/Santa Clara intersection. City leaders want to separate the railroad tracks from the street.

As their own volunteer project, local boys from Arcadia acquire shelving and install it at Bienvenidos Children's Center in Altadena. Sam Pievac Co. in Santa Fe Springs donated the shelves.
Arcadia resident Rick Landis and his partners, Bonnie and Glenn Watje of Whittier, who operate the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet, will receive the Good Scout of the Year Award.
Memorial services for William Ingoldsby will be held December 15, 1995. Ingoldsby, 48, died November 21 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was a graduate of Arcadia High School.
Closure of Santa Anita Avenue today begins seven months of bridge construction in Arcadia. Crews will begin constructing a new bridge over Santa Anita Avenue at the railroad crossing in Arcadia, as part of the 11.5 mile Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project.

The Arcadia Redevelopment Agency approved the purchase of $1.2 million in land owned by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Co. at 21 North 2nd Avenue to be used as part of the Northwest Corner Project of commercial development.
