Shopping Bag Market (which is listed in 1939 City Directory at 1225 S. Baldwin) and the West Arcadia Service Station (apparently owned at this time by Blake Smith and Bruce Wetmore), located at 1221 S. Baldwin.
White Oak Service Station located on SW corner of Foothill Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue. View probably is looking east across Santa Anita toward large barn that must have been on southeast corner. Owner Emil Bolz is pictured standing in front of his station. He not only sold auto products but ice cream, tobaccos, cold drinks, etc. The address listed in 1928 City Directory is 2 W. Foothill.

Looking west on Duarte Road near intersection with Baldwin Avenue. Ericsson's Pharmacy is listed at 1201 S. Baldwin. West Arcadia Public Market was owned by Mr. C.M. Knott and was located at 1203 S. Baldwin. The new building under construction here on S.E. corner apparently at 1200 S. Baldwin was for the Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings according to 1928 City Directory.

Duarte Road, is partly visible on the right corner. The Bow & Arrow Grill at 11 W. Duarte Road is seen just west of the Chevron station. Both businesses are listed in the 1955 City Directory.

View west of bungalow with chimney on east side. In 1939 City Directory, this was called Ivy Cottage Restaurant, at 22 E. Foothill. In 1931-32 City Directory, listed as Gansers Ltd. - Preserves. This was the first time this address showed in the city directory, so building apparently dates to 1930. Last business to use it was the Copy Cat custom dress design shop.
Peter Cuccia residence at 526 W. Duarte Road. Built 1919. It is listed in 1928 City Directory and was still standing in 1976 as part of property of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Fire station across which is painted ENGINE #2. Parked in front is one fire truck with 2 firemen. Standing to left of engine are 3 firemen. Car parked at rear of station appears to be late 1930's model. Address 1420 S. Baldwin Avenue.
Thatched conical shaped roadside fruit stand with the name SLEMONS' ORANGE WIGWAM,ARCADIA,CALIF. According to 1930 City Directory, it was located at 141 E. Foothill Boulevard. (McDonalds address in 1993 is 143 E. Foothill.) Owner was James B. Slemons. Two people can be seen standing near entrance.
Unknown buisiness building at 34 or 36 E. Foothill Blvd. In 1948 City Directory, #34 is listed as H. & H. Auto Service. Also shown is Red Spot Liquors.

Looking east from Santa Anita Avenue to McLean's service station located at 808 S. Santa Anita Avenue. Standing at right is Mr. Mann, who owned the Monrovia Ice Co. and it is believed to be his truck standing near him. Next person to the left is believed to be Fred Knisley. Under the sign reading Brunswick tires and tubes on the left, is a group of five. Man with hat and cigarette is Mr. McLean. Man on extreme left is his helper. Photos #849 and #850 show same garage at different periods of time.
